SHOULD YOU DO IT YOURSELF???
Many clients start their cases out by doing it themselves--this in and of itself in some cases, MIGHT be harmful, if you really do not know what you are doing.
It depends on the level of difficulty in most cases, and on what level you are at when you do it. Meaning, if there is an inherent legal issue that you did not understand or were completely unaware of it, and you make a critical error, it is possible (note I said "possible"...)-- that the harm may be very difficult to fix or eradicate, which would make your case more expensive to try and fix.
Some errors can be overcome, but some cannot. Not every attorney will have the exact same opinion on what is harmful and what can be fixed. Attorney herein is pretty damn good at determining what would be harmful in the long run, and what may not be? That is, after all, part of what you will want any attorney to do, right?
You pay an attorney to get results, not just fix mistakes or errors. Superior Court, trying to claim client was engaging in fraud with a non profit entity..)
