Former music instructor now in Eureka, given probation in domestic violence case

OROVILLE >> A former Chico music instructor who lives in Eureka was placed on five years probation and 30 days jail for a January 2013 domestic violence incident.
Butte County Superior Court Judge Steven Howell handed down the sentence Thursday for defendant Breazid "Sid" Lewis, 46.
Lewis, the former owner of the Chico School of Rock, pleaded no contest in July to felony counts of corporal injury on a cohabitant and assault with a firearm for the incident involving a then-40-year-old woman on Jan. 20, 2013.
During the incident, Lewis reportedly became angry with the woman during an event because another man spoke with her. Upon returning home, Lewis tried to suffocate the woman and put a loaded revolver against her.
Lewis faces trial Dec. 8 in a second case where he allegedly masturbated in front of a 17-year-old girl performing housework at his West Sacramento Avenue residence in Chico. The girl was a former student of Lewis.

This is just an example and not a common outcome, but IF it was actually proven (by a jury) that the defendant actually did try to suffocate the female AND put the loaded gun against her, it is not likely that he would end up with probation only in attorney's opinion.  Therefore there was likely other evidence in the case that contributed to obtaining 5 years of probation and 30 days in jail.  This was not attorney's case and attorney has no knowledge of the actual allegations, but attorney has seen enough cases to realize that most felonies don't just get 5 years probation.

Here is the result of the 2nd case:
